INDEX:

The floor stand is shipped partially assembled. The initial assembly procedure should be completed by a trained Medlink USA representative. The following procedures are given here for reference and to assist qualified individuals to disassemble portions of the microscope.


For the following procedures, refer to System Parts ID:

To Change Fiber Optic Bulb:

  1. Remove slide-in lamp module from housing.
  2. Take care to not touch with bare hands since skin oil will shorten bulb life.
  3. Tip bulb back out of recess, slide out away from leaf springs.
  4. Pull bulb away from bulb holder.
  5. Unplug bulb from socket.
  6. Plug new bulb into socket.
  7. Put bulb into holder aligning tab with slot in holder.
  8. Re-install slide-in lamp module into housing.

To Disconnect Foot switches:

  1. Place thumb and index finger on ring of connector and pull down gently.

CAUTION:

To avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment, it is strongly recommended that the following procedures be completed by at least two individuals.

To Disconnect and Remove Microscope Head and Carrier Assembly:

  1. Place thumb and index finger on ring of Head connector, pull up gently.
  2. Place thumb and index finger on fiber optic ferrule at the end near fiber optic light housing, pull up gently.
  3. Loosen tension knob (counter-clockwise).
  4. Rotate so Carrier is not under X-Y Translation Arm.
  5. Tighten tension knob (clockwise).
  6. Loosen locking knob (counter-clockwise) 3 turns. It is the small knob pointed out 45° to the tension knob.
  7. Pull back locking lever, lift head up and off by holding the black hub that holds the column joystick, and the Carrier.
  8. Put down very carefully on clean moderately hard surface.

To Disconnect and Remove X-Y Transfer Arm Assembly:

NOTE:

To remove X-Y Translation Arm, the Microscope Head and Carrier Assembly MUST BE REMOVED FIRST.

  1. Place thumb and index finger on ring of X-Y connector and pull up gently.
  2. Loosen tension knob (counter-clockwise)
  3. Rotate X-Y Translation Arm until the long axis of the X-Y is pointed parallel to the Swivel Arm.
  4. Tighten tension knob (clockwise).
  5. Loosen locking knob (counter-clockwise) 3 turns. It is the small knob pointed out 45° to the tension knob.
  6. Pull back locking lever, lift up and off.

Tools Needed:

  • #2 Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • 5/16" Hex Head Wrench
  • 5/32" Hex Head Wrench
  • Needle-Nosed Pliers

To Remove Control Panel:

  1. Unplug microscope from wall socket.
  2. Remove the four Phillips screws (one in each corner) with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Grasp the Control Panel in one hand firmly, while with the other hand disconnecting the four brown connectors (12 pin, 14 pin, 14 pin, 20 pin), one white connector (9 pin), and four wires plugged into the power switch (2 white, 2 black).

To Remove Power Supply:

  1. Unplug microscope from wall socket
  2. Remove the Control Panel.
  3. Remove four Phillips screws from the back cover with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
  4. Remove two Phillips screws for the venting cover on top of the horizontal arm.
  5. Disconnect one white connector (7 pin) through the venting cover.
  6. Disconnect one white connector (8 pin) through the back cover.
  7. Remove one Phillips screw in the side of the horizontal arm with a #2 Phillips screwdriver, using a pair of needle-nosed pliers to hold the nut on the inside of the arm.
  8. Remove four socket head cap screws on the back of the black heatsink with a 5/32" hex head wrench.
  9. Remove the grounding screw for the horizontal arm with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
  10. Pull the Power Supply out of the back of the arm gently while being extremely careful not to damage any of the connectors.
