The floor stand is shipped partially assembled. The initial assembly
procedure should be completed by a trained Medlink USA representative.
The following procedures are given here for reference and to assist qualified
individuals to install assemblies of the microscope.

CAUTION:
To avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment,
it is strongly recommended that the following procedures be completed by
at least two individuals.
Install and Connect X-Y Transfer Arm Assembly
- Loosen tension knob (counter-clockwise).
- Rotate coupling so the shiny side is pointed down the long axis of
the X-Y Translation Arm.
- Lift the X-Y up to the end of the Swivel Arm and hang the coupling
on the stainless steel knobs.
- You should hear a "click" as the safety catch engages.
- Wiggle gently up and down against the Swivel Arm to make certain the
coupling is locked on.
- Tighten locking knob finger-tight. It is the small knob pointed out
45° to the tension knob.
- Plug X-Y connector into the appropriate outlet on the end of the Swivel
Arm.

Install and Connect Microscope Head
and Carrier Assembly
The X-Y Translation Arm MUST BE INSTALLED BEFORE the
Microscope Head and Carrier Assembly.
- Loosen tension knob (counter-clockwise).
- Rotate coupling until the Praeger handle is in the "L" position.
- Lift the Carrier up to the end of the X-Y and hang the coupling on
the stainless steel knobs.
- You should hear a "click" as the safety catch engages.
- Wiggle gently up and down against the X-Y to make certain the coupling
is locked on.
- Tighten locking knob finger-tight. It is the small knob pointed out
45° to the tension knob.
- Plug the electrical connector into the appropriate outlet on the end
of the Swivel Arm.
- Route the fiber optics between the two connectors on the Swivel Arm
and plug into light housing.
The remaining instructions only apply to the Z880 model.
- Put the Praeger handle in the "N" position.
- Connect the A-side hand switch cable into the lower left outlet on
the Swivel Arm.
- Connect the B-side hand switch cable into the lower right outlet on
the Swivel Arm.
- It is recommended that the hand switch cables, the cable from the head,
and the fiber optic bundle be bound loosely together about 3" above
the head coupler. This helps the cables stay aligned during X-Y movement.
